Most students rush to look for content at the last minute for their term papers, but forget the importance of the formatting style specification. Among the mostly applied styles in term paper assignments is the MLA format. Due to the rush that the majority of college students make having been caught up by the begging of a new semester, a few tips on how to write a term paper in MLA format become handy. The importance of the format conversance is the free marks awarded for meeting the format specification in the assignment. Generally, term papers carry vital marks and dropping some of them on simple format issues should be avoided. Having gathered the necessary information to include in the main body of the term paper, students need to demonstrate their MLA formatting prowess. Some of the elements of term papers written in MLA will range from the page setup to the indentation till the last page containing works cited. The first thing to be noted is the header that is usually right flushed with a surname of the student near the page number. Secondly, the main headings in the MLA paper are centred while sub-headings are flushed left. Thirdly, paragraphs are indented at 0.5 inches for the first line, with the exception of the last page of the paper which is centre-titled “works cited” and a hanging indentation used.
